Santiago December 17, 2007 Regarding the second rejection of the accreditation of our university, full federation raised the following points:
1) We demand the immediate resignation of Mr. Miguel Angel Avendaño Berrios, Rector of the Technological University of the State of Chile for his role in the crisis facing our university today, crisis unprecedented in the history of the UTEM. Along with demand well above the outlet of the flat policy, meaning the output of the Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance, Mr. Nestor Ortiz Transfer Technology, Mr Ricardo Neira, Academic, Mr. Patricio Olivares, being directly responsible for the mismanagement of our university. Also we request that the Superior Council becoming party to this lawsuit.
2) Furthermore, as students demand that the Government through the Ministry of Education to take responsibility and is made in respect to:
The ratification by the President of the Republic, regarding the appointment of the rector in his third term at the helm University, after the rejection CNAP management and accreditation in undergraduate teaching for the first time.
The remarkable neglect of duties of the three representatives Government in the Supreme Council voting, dissociated from its responsibility, absent throughout the year, after the first non-accreditation and in the process of preparing the new application. Confirming the complete decoupling of government with our university.
3) We demand that the State should assume its role as guarantor of the right to higher education. Since
because of the political crisis caused by self-financing colleges are created without any special plans regulation and new careers, they do not control the entry, on the labor field and only respond to financial needs of universities. Today our university is the reflection of these practices for Criminology and special plans, resulting in a contractual relationship with private companies such as CELTA, whose sole purpose is profit.
We demand a real solution to the situation of students in special programs, both of UTEM assuming responsibilities as the government.
4) Faced with this crisis management as the only solution we see the integration of the university community, thereby understanding the participation of students, academic and nonacademic staff, in instances of discussion and decision making triestamentales to generate a whole the overhaul of our college.
